100 Degree Hottie: What I Pack in My Beach Bag
Look, I'm a notorious over-packer.
I'm a self admitted pack rat when it comes to traveling.
But I will say this- better to be prepared than to pack light and be miserable.
SO HERE'S HOW I PACK MY BAG
First of all, if you don't pack a sunscreen you're an idiot. I'm serious. Don't give me that, "I'm already tan", "I don't burn", BS because being tan doesn't protect you from getting skin cancer and having your ears cut off.
My favorite sunscreen is probably the dry touch formulas from Neutrogena.
Otherwise the Ole Henriksen ones are nice, or if you have an aversion to lotions, Supergoop makes sunscreen towelettes that are really cool.
Next, consider Chapstick- especially one with an SPF built in.
Obviously, we all know I'm a fan of jack black lip balms, but if you're looking for a drugstore version the EOS ones are nice, or even Nivea.
Towel. Don't go anywhere anywhere without a towel. Did you not see/read hitchhiker a guide to the galaxy?
Target towels, in my opinion, are the cutest, but I know Marshall's gets in great towels too.
Mini makeup bag- you might think this is dumb, but consider the amount of times you've been on the beach only to hear someone go "let's hit a place for dinner on the way home" and OF COURSE that ONE cute guy is there. Trust me.
My makeup bag usually consists of mini's or travel sizes.
Concealer
Tinted lip balm or a blush/lip color
Mascara
Highlighter (natural glow on the cheek/make shift eye color)
Perfume/body spray
My favorite makeup bags usually come from 31 Bags, Target, or Victorias Secret- although Forever 21 has some really great bags too and they usually have smaller sizes.
Spare clothes or a coverup- usually I bring shorts and a top to cover my suit or a really great summer dress. Again, you never know when the genius in the group is like "let's go to dinner at a nice place" when you thought you were going back to the hotel to change clothes and freshen up.
I'm a big fan of target clothes because if they get sandy, gross, ruined it's not too big of a deal, but again Marshall's has cheaper options too.
Although I'm kinda dying over Blake Lively's look.

Water. As much as possible. You're going to get tired/dehydrated/thirsty/overheated.
Sunglasses. Don't make your eyes hurt for no reason.
The essentials: keys, wallet or cash, ID, etc.
Stuff to do!
I'm a big-time reader and I usually prefer book series that don't require a lot of mental heavy lifting (I am on vacation, okay?), but magazines are great too.
And lastly, a really great summer bag:
Target bags are great and you can usually find one in a tote size that's plastic and you can wipe it down when you're done at the beach.
Otherwise, I'm a huge fan of backpacks and they come in all shapes and sizes, and some even convert into purses. It's all very fancy.
I totally have this bag but in pink. It was at target for like $15 and I have been using it for yeeeeaaarrrsss. And I know Victoria's Secret does totes with a large purchase periodically too. (I have a couple of those as well).
